Hybrizyme Corporation became active in the field of environmental and food testing in 1995. Our goals since that time have remained constant. We want to develop and sell biologically based tests, which will allow for the rapid and inexpensive testing of environmental and food samples. It is our belief that our success will enhance the world's ability to achieve and maintain a clean environment and a food supply free of the most dangerous toxins.
We feel that we are very fortunate to have found organizations and companies that share our belief in developing testing technologies that are cost effective and relatively easy to use. We are proud to be a part of the efforts in the United States of the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Agriculture through joint research projects as well as, federally funded research conducted in our facility. We are also very pleased to have the support of the North Carolina Biotechnology Center in many of our efforts.
In Europe we have the pleasure of working with the DG Joint Research Centre, Institute for Health and Consumer Protection, Food Products and Consumer Goods Unit in Ispra Italy to validate our products for use in those countries belonging to the European Union.
Our good fortune extends to our commercial partners, both in the United States and throughout the world. We are very pleased to count En-Chem in the US and China, Perkin-Elmer throughout the world, and Tomen Trading Company and Daiichi Fine Chemical Co.l in the Far East to be among those companies working with us, who recognize the necessity of engaging in basic research to develop commercially viable products and distributing those products at prices affordable throughout the world.
